Frequently Asked Questions

Visiting a private GP may be a new experience for you; these are the questions I am most often asked by new patients.

Visit my FAQs page for more, useful information.

Am I allowed to visit a private GP in addition to my NHS GP?

Yes, you are. Private GPs do not have access to your NHS records although you can use the NHS app or Airmid app to see your electronic healthcare record. You may need to request permission from your NHS practice to see this. Please bring a list of your medications, allergies and any significant past medical history with you to your appointment.

How much will it cost?

Please see my appointments page for a breakdown of costs.

Do you see children?

Although I am fully trained to see patients from birth, due to the registration of my surgery premises, I am currently only able to see patients who are 18 years or over at my Southwell practice and 16 years or over at my Nottingham practice.

Can a private GP write an NHS prescription?

A private GP is not able to provide an NHS prescription. However, private prescriptions can be very competitively priced & are sometimes cheaper than NHS prescriptions. Some drugs are quite expensive & in this situation you will be asked to pay the actual cost of the drug.
